Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV
Where do you go to find comfort?
Too often, we seek solace in temporary things or empty endeavors that can’t produce the results, the rest, our souls crave.
There’s no shortage of options for us to find distraction and instant gratification … social media, news, hobbies, food.
Life’s hard. There’s trouble. No one’s immune to suffering.
Instead of settling for short-term solutions, there’s a better option.
Today’s passage reminds us we have a Father in heaven who’s full of compassion and ready to comfort us in all our troubles. Every. single. one.
The Lord met me in this passage recently and revealed I was (unknowingly) carrying the weight of the world.
Maybe, like me, that’s where you find yourself lately.
If so, I’m here to remind you that you don’t have to bear burdens alone. Even when surrounded by so much chaos, you can call on the Lord and count on his care.
Your circumstances and feelings don’t dictate God’s faithfulness. His comfort comes in many forms. One of the most precious? His presence.
I pray he awakens and anoints your senses today so you can feel his nearness, release your heavy load, and receive his loving gaze.
But it doesn’t end there. God lavishes his love and comfort on us so we can extend the same to others.
He blesses you so you can be a blessing. So ask and you will receive. And then give it away to others in need.
His generosity is unlimited, so you never need to worry about running out.
P.S. Music is another way I receive God’s comfort and experience his presence. Take a 10-minute timeout today and ask the Holy Spirit to meet you as you listen to this song.
